If you’re interested in organized volunteer options, you might consider the AmeriCorps program. AmeriCorps is a national volunteer program with more than 50,000 participants each year. Projects include teaching children to read, making neighborhoods safer, building affordable homes, responding to natural disasters and meeting other community needs. Volunteer members receive education awards at the end of their service. These awards can be used for college costs or applied to student loans.
