What is the Adult Learning Center?
The Adult Learning Center is a place where adults want to learn. Classes are designed to help adults upgrade their basic reading, math, and writing skills so they can pass the GED tests. Adults with a high school diploma may use these classes to review basic skills to prepare for college, pass pre-employment tests, learn job readiness and job retention skills, or improve for personal satisfaction.
Where is the Adult Learning Center located?
The Adult Learning Center is located in the Sullivan Success Center, found on the second floor of the new Sullivan Tech Center as a part of Henderson Community College, 2660 South Green Street, Henderson, Kentucky.
When is the Adult Learning Center open?
The hours for the Adult Learning Center are:

What programs are offered?
The GED program is offered to help anyone who wants to study for his/her GED. This is an individualized program suited to each person's abilities and needs.
The reading program is designed to help anyone who cannot read or needs to improve his/her reading skills. Tutors are available to assist a person in this program.
The basic skills program provides an opportunity to improve in any basic skill area such as reading, writing, or math.
General Educational Development (GED) Tests
What are GED Tests?
GED Tests are five tests in the areas of writing skills, social studies, science, literature and the arts, and mathematics. The questions in each of these tests require you to use general knowledge and thinking skills. The Adult Learning Center can help you prepare for the GED Tests which are given monthly at Henderson Community College. The GED Tests are given monthly at the College.
GED tests are given several times throughout the year. Prior to testing, all examinees must meet a "test readiness" requirement and obtain and application to take the exam. Applications for applicants under nineteen (19) years of age must be made at the Henderson County Board of Education Office. Applications for applicants over nineteen can be made at any of the local Adult Education & Literacy providers. Testing for the GED begins at 12 noon and ends at approximately 5 p.m. both days.
The GED testing fee is $40.00 for the entire battery of tests or $10.00 per sub-test when re-testing. Fees must be paid prior to testing at the Adult Learning Center, Sullivan Technology Center, 2nd floor. To obtain more information on GED testing, call Cassandra Wilson at (270) 831-9685.
All students must pass the Official Practice GED Test before taking the actual eight-hour tests. The Practice Test will be available at all class sites.
GED Transcript Request
To request a copy of your GED transcript from the state of Kentucky, you may come by the Adult Learning Center and/or the Chief Examiner's office in the Administration building in room 216 and get a transcript request form. All transcripts requests must be sent to Frankfort along with $5 per transcript and/or $25 per diploma. You will need to send a money order, no personal checks will be accepted.
If your name has changed since you have taken the exam, please provide your surname at the time of the exam.

Who is eligible to enroll?
Anyone 16 years old or older who is not enrolled in the public school system is eligible to enroll.
How much does it cost?
All instruction and materials are FREE.
Documented accommodations for special needs will be provided for GED testing.
The Adult Learning Center is staffed by degreed instructors, paraprofessionals, and literacy tutors. Computerized instruction is also available through the Adult Learning Center.
Tutoring
Instruction for adults learning to read is available at the Adult Learning Center with individual tutoring and/or the computer lab.
