The Kentucky Community and Technical College System honored some benefactors of Henderson Community College at the 10th annual President's Gala Benefactors Awards Dinner in Lexington last Saturday.
Dr. David and Peggy Watkins were honored for their generosity to HCC's scholarship program.
Union County Judge-executive Jody Jenkins and Union Fiscal Court were recognized for having turned the operation of the Herron Tech Center near Morganfield over to HCC.
Special recognition was given to former governor Paul E. Patton, who in 1997 masterminded the legislation that created KCTCS. Patton's vision was for a network of 13 two-year community colleges and 15 technical schools to be governed by one board of regents.
Patton was presented the first President's Medallion for Distinguished Service.
