Henderson Community College Literary Magazine Fall 2008
“We’ve received a number of entries already but, as usual, are hoping for even more,” said Bill Gary, the magazine’s faculty adviser.
To enter, send typed works to Bill Gary, HCC, 2660 S. Green St., Henderson, KY 42420. The author’s name should not appear on the work but must be accompanied by a 3”x 5” index card which lists the author’s name, address, telephone number, title of the work, and the category in which the work is being entered. Entries are also accepted on 3.5” disk in Microsoft Word or in rich text format.
New this year is the magazine’s email address, allowing writers to submit their works electronically. Works can be submitted in Microsoft Word or in rich text format to HCCLitmag@gmail.com
The student publication has featured work by area writers and artists for over forty years. The magazine also offers awards in four categories: poetry, haiku, fiction, and non-fiction essay. First ($100), second ($75), and third ($50) place prizes can be awarded in each category.
The Magazine does not accept works longer than 3,000 words, works that have been previously published, or anonymous/pen-named works. Each writer may submit up to ten poems, five haiku, five short stories, and five works of non-fiction.
The deadline for submissions is Sept. 12, 2008. Writer’s Guidelines can be picked up in AD 113, AD 210, or the campus library. Guidelines can also be received via mail at the address above or via email at William.gary@kctcs.edu
