The Joseph M. Hartfield Library and Learning Resource Center's main purpose is to provide quality library services to all publics served by Henderson Community College. These services include (1) Reference, (2) Circulation, (3) Library Skills Instruction, (4) Technical Services, (5) Media Services, and (6) Off-Campus Services.

PRIMARY GOALS:

Service

The Library will provide the highest quality service to all Henderson Community College populations.

Resources

The Library will acquire, develop, and maintain the materials and equipment to meet the needs of the students, faculty and staff of Henderson Community College.

Instruction / Learning

The Library will support Henderson Community College's credit and non-credit instructional activities. The library staff will work with faculty members to educate library users and to promote critical thinking and life-long learning.

SUPPORTING GOALS:

Access

The Library will provide equitable access to its resources and services for all Henderson Community College populations.

Technology

The Library will investigate, acquire, utilize, and maintain traditional and emerging technologies.

Staff

The Library will attract and retain staff members who are knowledgeable, motivated, adaptable, service-oriented, and effective. The Library has a commitment to provide continuing education and training for its staff.

Facilities

Library Services will acquire and maintain the facilities necessary to meet the information needs of the students, faculty and staff of Henderson Community College.

Management

The Library will be a learning organization that is open, collegial, organized, flexible, and responsive. The Library will continually assess its services in response to the changing needs of its community for planning services and allocating resources.

Partnerships

The Library will maintain collaborative relationships within the KCTCS and with the other state universities to be responsive to local, regional, and national information needs, and to make the most effective use of resources.

Standards

The Library will endeavor to meet the accepted standards of the American Library Association, the American Colleges and Research Libraries organization, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
