100 titles will be added to the book and audio-visual collection for each of the following ten programs: Agricultural Technology, Business Technology, Clinical Laboratory Technology, Dental Hygiene, Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Industrial Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Medical Assisting and Nursing over a three-year time frame. One-third of the titles will be added in 2002-03. |
35% of the library’s book and AV collections were upgraded with efforts focused on Nursing, CLT/Med. Assisting, Information Technology, and Dental Hygiene. Lists of proposed deletions were sent to faculty members for consideration. A substantial amount of dated material was discarded and new titles were purchased. 15% of the library’s book budget was spent on these acquisitions – far below the planned 40%. The number of titles purchased by program included: Nursing (73), CLT (53), Dental Hygiene (22) and Information Technology (17). Acquisitions for Nursing, CLT, Dental Hygiene, and Information Technology were below the goal of 100 titles per program. While library funds have been reallocated to increase spending on these acquisitions, this effort cannot be adequately sustained without an increase in the book budget. Standing orders and subscriptions to electronic databases and periodicals consume nearly 75% of this budget. Average copyright dates for these collections have been increased by as much as 15 years due to weeding and purchasing. Faculty members provided input during the weeding process. Continuing input is needed for acquisitions. X budget requested $5900 |
