2006-07 Notable Accomplishments
- The library contributed to the successful re-accreditation of the Dental Assisting Program. The on-site visiting team from the Commission on Dental Accreditation noted the high quality of the library and its support of the program.
- The library contributed to the successful re-accreditation of the Clinical Laboratory Technician Program. The on-site visit by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences resulted in compliments for the library and its support of the CLT program.
- Lynda Sinnett, the Library Specialist for Cataloging and Interlibrary Loans, initiated a project that used a hand-held scanner to scan and save book records then download these records into a database in order to identify missing materials. This new project resulted in a streamlined and much more efficient process of inventory control of the library's collections.
- Lynda Sinnett, the Library Specialist for Cataloging and Interlibrary Loans, was the HCC Staff recipient of the 2007 New Horizons Staff Award of Excellence.
- Lynda Sinnett, the Library Specialist for Cataloging and Interlibrary Loans, recieved HCC's Dorothy P. Norment Classified Staff Award.
- A vending machine for soft drinks was installed in the library as part of an ongoing effort to make the library more user-friendly for students.
- Mike Knecht and Kevin Reid offered a professional development workshop at HCC titled, "Faculty Online Resources."
- Kevin Reid presented the paper,"Using Blackboard to Improve the Information Literacy Skills of the At-Risk Student," at the fall conference of the Kentucky Association of Developmental Education.
- Mike Knecht and Kevin Reid presented the paper, "Using Course Management Software to Improve the Information Literacy Skills of at-Risk Students," at the 2007 New Horizons Teaching and Learning Professional Development Workshop and the spring conference of the Kentucky Library Association.
