2003-04 Notable Accomplishments
- The library contributed significantly to the successful re-accreditation of the Medical Assisting Program. The on-site visit by the team from the Commisssion on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs resulted in a commendation for the library and its support of the students enrolled in this program.
- The library's carpeting project was completed. This project involved the entire library staff in relocating books, furniture, and computers from temporary holding areas to their correct locations as well as the resumption of complete library services.
- Mike Knecht and Kevin Reid offered a professional development workshop at HCC titles, "Accessing the Library's Databases and Scholarly Information Retrieval Without Limits."
- Mike Knecht and Kevin Reid presented the paper, "ALearning Centered Approach to Library Skills Instruction in the Community College" at the May 2004 New Horizons Teaching and Learning Professional Development Conference and at the May 2004 McCracken County Information Network Conference.
- The appearance of the library was enhanced by the addition of a number of Audubon prints and framed photographs of HCC during its early years.
- The librarians continued promoting learning-centered concepts through changes in their library skills instruction sessions, in library hand-outs, and in library assignments.
