Application Troubleshooting
You will need to make sure session cookies are enabled in order to access the HCC Application.
Follow these simple steps to enable “Cookies” in Internet Explorer 7 for all web sites.
- Open your browser, and select Internet Options from the Tools menu at the top.
- Now on the option screen select the Privacy tab.
- Make sure the slider is not set to “Block All Cookies”.
The best setting is to set the option to “Medium,” then click Apply and then ok to save the changes.
To set it for just certain web sites do the following
- Open your browser, select Internet Options, from the Tools menu at the top.
- From the option screen Click the Privacy tab.
- Click on the Sites” button for web sites.
- Enter “the web site address that you wish to provide permissions to into the “Address of website:” field.
- Next click on the “Allow” button.
- Click on the OK to close the “Per Site Privacy Options” window.
- Next click on the “Advanced” button.
- If “Override automatic cookie handling” is checked, make sure “Accept” is selected for both “First-party cookies” and “Third-party cookies”.
- Now click on the OK to close the “Advanced Privacy Options” window.
- Finally click on the OK to close the “Internet Options” window.
Now Internet Explorer 7 will remember the permissions set for your favorite websites and accept cookies!

To access Firefox's cookie options, select Tools -> Options -> Privacy.
IMHO, the ideal setting is to check Allow Sites to set cookies and select Ask me every time from the "Keep Cookies" drop-down menu (which is a somewhat confusing placement of this option). This will make you answer "yes" or "no" to quite a few cookie dialogs in the beginning, but with Firefox you only have to do it once per site. Simply make sure Use my choice for all cookies from this site is checked
There are several aditional alternatives, depending how you surf the web:
- If you don't visit sites that need to remember who you are, or if you don't care for that feature, but you visit sites who only allow you to enter with cookies enabled, check Allow sites to set cookies and select until I close Firefox.
This way, Firefox will accept all cookies but they are automatically deleted once your session is over (i.e. you close Firefox).
- As an alternative to the general recommendation, you can also check for the originating website only. This should work in most cases and especially with larger sites, but it may not work properly with all sites.
