Medical Assistant
This program prepares students for entry into the Medical Assisting field and related occupations. The medical assisting profession provides a variety of jobs that range from those with minimal required skills to those with highly developed multi-skills and knowledge. The curriculum gives the student basics in theory, principles and techniques utilized by persons in the medical assisting field. Graduates may seek job opportunities as a medical assisting professional in physician offices, clinics, and hospitals.
The medical assistant specializes in the application of scientific knowledge and theory in the skillful performance of their profession. Therefore, to be considered for admission or to be retained in the program after admission, all applicants should possess:
Sufficient gross and fine motor coordination to efficiently implement the skills required in performing medical assistant functions.
Sufficient communication skills (verbal, nonverbal, and written) to interact effectively with individuals.
Sufficient intellectual and emotional functions to plan and implement their duties in a responsible manner.
