Clinical Laboratory Technician
Clinical Laboratory Technician is an essential part of the health care team. They perform tests critical to the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up diseases.
This program provides students with the background to perform microbiological, cellular, and chemical analyses on various body fluids. They learn to perform tests in such areas as blood banking, clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology, and urinalysis. The curriculum combines general education and clinical laboratory education with practical experience gained in the campus laboratories and clinical facilities.
The course of study requires an aptitude for science and mathematics. The potential student must possess the desire to serve others and demonstrate the highest degree of integrity, honesty, confidentiality, and responsibility.
Graduates work in hospital laboratories, clinics, physicians' offices, public health agencies, pharmaceutical companies, and research and educational institutions. Because of the strong emphasis in the sciences, graduates of the program are qualified for positions in industrial laboratories as well.
The degree of Associate in Applied Science is awarded upon completion of the program and the graduate is eligible to sit for the national certification examination to become a registered clinical laboratory technician.

Although graduates are prepared to enter directly into the job market, those interested may apply for baccalaureate program if they desire to continue their education.
